New York Is Dead
Working Man's Clothes Productions, winner of six 2006 NY Innovative Theater Awards for To Nineveh: A Modern Miracle Play, presents New York Is Dead [5 Days to Celebrate the End], a five-night festival that celebrates the "artistic death and imminent commercialization of all of New York City." New York Is Dead features a 48-hour play challenge; a two-night expo of art, music, dance, and theatre; and two nights of short plays by emerging NYC playwrights.
New York Is Dead opens tonight at 8 p.m. with 5 Boroughs on Fire, a performance of the 48-hour urban play challenge competition featuring new short plays from NYC playwrights. The Wooster Wake, a two night expo, takes over April 23 & 24; and Abandon All Hope, a collection of one-act plays, performs April 25 & 26.
The festival runs April 22-26 at the Ohio Theatre in NYC, in conjunction with the support of Soho Think Tank and The Thursday Problem. Tickets are $10 (cash at the door), and include a free drink.
