Jeremy Irons and Joan Allen to Star in Upcoming Broadway Play 'Impressionism'
Tony Award-winning actors Jeremy Irons and Joan Allen will return to Broadway in Spring 2009 for the debut of Impressionism, a new play by Michael Jacobs.
The production will mark Allen’s first appearance on Broadway since The Heidi Chronicles in 1989, and Irons’ first appearance since The Real Thing in 1984. Both debuts landed the actors Tony awards for Best Actor/Actress in a Play.
In film, Irons won an Oscar in 1990 for his role in Reversal of Fortune. Among his myriad other film credits are Lolita, Die Hard with a Vengeance, The Man in the Iron Mask, and The Lion King.
Allen received Academy Award nominations for her roles in The Contender, The Crucible, and Nixon.
The press release for Impression described the show simply as "the story of a world traveling photojournalist and a New York gallery owner who discover each other and also that there might be an art to repairing broken lives."
Writer Michael Jacobs made his Broadway playwriting debut in 1978 with Cheaters. He produced Quiz Show, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture in 1994. (Pictured: Actor Joan Allen)
