MTV's 'Legally Blonde' Search Begins

The second episode of the cumbersomely-titled MTV reality competition show Legally Blonde the Musical: The Search for Elle Words airs tonight, but the New York Times' Mike Hale had some questions after watching the first episode last week.

From the Times:

Will it help or hurt 25-year-old Emma that she looks like Reese Witherspoon, the original Elle Woods, and that her father, the director Jerry Zaks, has won four Tony Awards? Will Lauren, the 18-year-old with the dead eyes and the forked tongue, become the designated villain? Is blond hair — natural or otherwise — an advantage?

Those who love Broadway musicals will have other questions too. Like: What must Laura Bell Bundy be thinking?

Bundy will be replaced by the winner of the MTV contest, but can any of the young hopefuls actually fill her pink shoes on Broadway?

Whatever the results, a reality show with song and dance numbers from an actual Broadway musical might prove to be more entertaining than Dancing with the Stars. But let us know what you think about the musical, the reality show, and the impending Armageddon that this surely heralds for Broadway.
