John Turturro Named Artist-in-Residence at New School

TurturroActor John Turturro (The Big Lebowski, The Bronx is Burning) will be the Artist-in-Residence for  the 2008-09 academic year at the New School for Drama. Turturro will teach several master classes in the MFA acting program in the fall and spring semesters. His residency will coincide with the filming of Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, in which Turturro plays a major role.

"I am looking forward to the opportunity to support the artistic growth of students at The New School for Drama," said Turturro in the press release. "I hope my experiences, including both obstacles and successes, will connect with them and help them find their path in this challenging industry."

Turturro studied at the Yale School of Drama. He has performed in more than 60 films and has won an Obie and a Theater World award for his stage  work.

The New School for Drama MFA acting program offers extensive acting training and fostered the careers of Tennessee Williams and Marlon Brando.
