'The Fantasticks' Star Chosen for 'Amazing Race'
CBS has announced that Nick Spangler, currently starring as Matt in the Off-Broadway revival of The Fantasticks, is moving to TV -- as a contestant on the newest season of The Amazing Race.
Spangler will compete with his sister and teammate Starr Spangler, a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, in the 13th season of the reality competition, which follows teams of two as they travel over 30,000 miles around the world in 23 days. Teams are elminated after each "pit stop." The winning duo receives a cash prize.
Be sure to read Blog Stage next week for an exclusive interview with Nick Spangler.
Spangler's performance as Matt in The Fantasticks was recognized with The Theater Hall of Fame's 2008 Elaine and Jerry Orbach Musical Theater Fellowship. The Fantasticks is currently running at The Snapple Theater Center, 210 W. 50th St. (at Broadway), NYC.
The Amazing Race premieres Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
This is absolutely phenomenal news, a theater actor currently in a show and also on a reality show...and a quality show like The Fantasticks and a quality reality show like The Amazing Race to boot. Nick, the theater world will be rooting for you!
