Oliver Platt: The New 'Guy' in Town
Oliver Platt will hit Broadway as hilarious, rakish, lovable gambler Nathan Detroit in the upcoming Guys and Dolls, opening March 1 at the Nederlander Theatre. No word yet on who will play his fellow high-roller Sky Masterson, his love interest Miss Adelaide, and the straight-laced Sarah Brown.
Platt may not conjure up comparisons to Mr. Blue Eyes himself, Frank Sinatra, who played Detroit in the definitive film version from 1955, but he is an acting heavyweight and was nominated for a Best Actor Tony in 2006 in Conor McPherson's Shining City.
