Too Soon?

Sundance Okay, so we all do Oscar pools and Golden Globe pools and so on. Maybe some of you really like to mix it up and do a Gotham Awards pool! (Who had the Synecdoche, New York cast?!)

Personally, I think we should get into some more creative pooling. For instance, let's all try to predict NOW what might emerge from Sundance '09 (the competition line-up was announced today) as a contender for the next awards season.

Little Miss Sunshine was kind of a gimme in '06, but I probably never would have pegged this year's Frozen River as a player based solely on the description (I figured Melissa Leo would have a much-deserved shot after actually seeing the film).

So what do you think? Will Paper Heart, a romance between cute, uber-indie kids Michael Cera and Charlyne Yi be touted in For Your Consideration ads around this time next year? Will the cast of Cold Souls -- this year's Paul Giamatti movie, because every Sundance has to have at least one -- be picking out formal wear and visiting swag suites? We shall see!
