The American Pavilion at Cannes

Cannes_palais_overview American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at Cannes is accepting film submissions in all categories including student shorts.  For those of you not familiar with the American Pavilion, it serves as a communication and hospitality center for the Americans in Cannes during the Cannes Film Festival.

There are a multitude of pavilions representing different countries as well as corporate sponsors. The American Pavilion is just one of many you will see when you attend the festival.  The showcase runs during Cannes on May 13 to May 24.

The mission of the American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at Cannes is to support upcoming filmmakers by showcasing their films at the American Pavilion during the Cannes Film Festival while providing an opportunity for filmmakers to connect with the Cannes Film Festival, Marketplace attendees and to a global audience.

The 2009 Emerging Filmmaker Showcase will be the first juried competition held in The American Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival.  Prizes will be awarded to filmmakers.

Right now there is simply an 'open call for entries' listed.   There seems to be no deadline.  But go to The American Pavilion Website for an application and more information.
