• ReelAccess is casting Last Teen Comic, a cross-launch with MySpace and ReelAccess that is intended to result in a broadcast pilot/series. Five finalists will perform live in front of industry professionals at a stand-up comedy club in L.A. in Nov. First-prize winner receives $5,000.

• The Conlin Company is casting The Great American Beauty, a new primetime show for ABC.

• Bravo is casting the second season of Make Me a Supermodel, the reality competition that explores what it takes to turn the exceptionally good-looking into professional working supermodels.

• Marc Platt, Universal Pictures, Araca Group, Jon B. Platt, and David Stone are casting ensemble and future replacements for Wicked.

• The Globe Theatre is casting Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

• Make-Believe Film is casting hosts and reporters for IRecordPlayer.net, a website that brings together film, "turntablism," and the Internet. Shooting Aug. 11-15 at the DJ Expo in Atlantic City, NJ, Aug. 15-21 in Queens, NY, Sept. 21-Nov. in L.A., and at assorted contests and event dates through 2009.

• Chop House Pictures is casting Salvation, an HDV short intended for the DVXuser film festival "TwilightFest."

• D.A.F.Y. Productions, a 501(c)(3) non-profit famous for drug awareness videos for youth, is casting Consequences, an HDV feature for TV/DVD release that is a morality piece about a group of spoiled kids who make a bad choice and have to pay the consequences.

• Beachbody is casting Nutritious Slim Down. "Are you beautiful on the outside and want to be more beautiful on the inside? Don't miss this exclusive opportunity to be part of a nutrition packed 90-day weight loss plan! At no cost to you! This is a Hollywood based test group for a national infomercial."

• Youtube.com and People.com are seeking video submissions for Be a Red Carpet Reporter, a contest which gives one winner the opportunity to interview celebrities on the red carpet at a major award show. (Deadline: July 21)

• M Productions is casting The Show, an HDV dramatic feature chronicling the lives of performers living in Eastern Europe who work at a brothel, performing both on and off-stage. Amanda Laflen & Ryan Conlin (Celine Dion, A New Day,) prods.

• The CW Network is casting cycle 12 of America's Next Top Model.

• JBCasting Networks is holding an agent/manager workshop with Yvette Yates of The Collective, Allan Mills of The Marshak Zachary Company, Orion Barnes of the Rogers Orion Talent Agency, and The Savage Agency. "The Collective is one of Hollywood's most successful management and production companies. They represent talent such as Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker. In addition to their management, the partners at The Collective have done extensive deals in all areas of media. They are responsible for franchises such as Big Momma's House and The Fast and the Furious and have produced and packaged over 30 films and TV shows. Based in Beverly Hills, Marshak/Zachary is a veteran management organization representing such talent as Ernie Hudson and Robert Carradine. The Marshak/Zachary Co. represents celebrity actors and up-and-coming talents. They have series regulars on Heroes, 24, Boston Legal, General Hospital, and The L Word. In addition, they have a successful in-house production company. Orion Barnes was born in L.A., the son of two actor parents. He graduated from Columbia College in Chicago with a BA in acting. Barnes developed a passion for discovering and representing talent during his stage and screen career. After spending several years as an agent at a well-known boutique agency in L.A., he opened Rogers Orion Talent Agency in 2004 and has two locations. This is a full-service agency with a strong base of talented actors. The Savage Agency, located in Hollywood, represents commericial, adult, and children theatrical and voiceover. With a long history of serving the entertainment industry, it has been consistently attracting solid talent for years. Guest speaker Markus Flanagan, writer of One Less Bitter Actor, will also be attending." Participants will be given an opportunity to perform a scene for agents and managers.

• New Age Pictures is casting Turn Me on Dead Man, a Super 16mm short in which a 1960's pop band that has reached the pinnacle of international popularity must suddenly cope with the accidental death of one of its most popular members. In an attempt to maintain their fame, they choose to cover up the tragedy and replace their bandmate with a lookalike/sound-alike, hoping that their millions of fans will not notice. This is a high-concept period piece serving as an allegory for the Paul McCartney (of The Beatles) "Paul is Dead" conspiracy theory/hoax. David Moscow is attached to play the "John" character; Luke Edwards is attached to play the "George Harrison" character; Joe Reegan is attached to play the "Paul" character; and Lucas Nelson (son of country music legend, Willie Nelson) is co-writing original songs for the film.

• Humanist Films, LLC is casting a lead actress for a Japanese romantic/dramatic feature. Shoot starts Apr. 2009 in Tokyo, Japan.

• JBCasting Networks is holding a casting director workshop with guest speaker casting assistant Eddie Jaszek of Pemrick Fronk Casting. "This is a very busy full-service office that cast a ton of indie features. They are currently working on several projects including the thriller/action/sci-fi feature Tribes of October with Michael Madsen and Kelly Hu; the horror thriller Slaughter; the romantic comedy That's A'more; the war film No Better Place To Die; the horror film Maneater; Cell 213, a suspense thriller; and the comedies Wild Oats and The Wiffler." Participants will be given an opportunity to perform a scene for casting assistant.

• Honor Films and a British television company are casting a documentary series about drag queens. "The documentary is currently in early development and content will be determined by the characters who are cast. Ideally this will be a multiple-episode series and the commitment will involve payment but initially we can only cover expenses."

• Silverthorne Pictures is casting Fishing Dreams, an HDV pilot. "We are looking for a female host to carry the show from the location to the viewers. If the show goes to air, host will travel from location to location across the US, Canada, and Mexico."

• San Diego Musical Theatre is casting Dreamgirls at the Lyceum Theatre in San Diego.

• BackTrax is casting a female singer to sing lead vocals for a classic rock/R&B/top hits cover band at club venues and corporate events in L.A. and Ventura county areas.

• The Learning Channel is casting Rock the Reception, a reality TV show in which engaged couples team up with top-notch choreographers who turn their first dance into an unforgettable production number. • HGTV is seeking frustrated do-it-yourselfers for Over Your Head.

• Steve Silver Productions, Inc. is casting Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon, "the nation's longest running theatrical cabaret show which plays regularly sold-out performances to enthusiastic audiences." Performances run ongoing, 51 weeks a year with eight-nine performances per week in San Francisco's North Beach district.

• Game Show Network is casting Bingo America, a fast-paced, interactive game show combining trivia with elements of traditional game play.

• Fox Reality Network is casting the third season of Solitary, "the most unusual reality show ever conceived."

• The H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival is seeking submissions for the 2008 festival in Portland, OR.

• Jason L. Barnett (prod./writer/dir.) is casting Amphibimortis, an HDV 24P horror feature. Barnett was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1998 for his special effects work in Babylon 5: In the Beginning.

• Kim Hardin Casting (Higher Learning, Moesha, Friday, Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan, Medea Goes to Jail) is conducting Secrets to a Successful Audition, a workshop on "what every actor should know about casting." Workshop will cover how casting directors think, 10 things you should never do at an audition, how to impress directors and producers, how to master cold readings, scene-reading experience, and "much, much more."

• NBC is casting The Biggest Loser, a reality series in which couples will compete together to lose the pounds once and for all.

• Oakstone Entertainment is casting Rock Me®, by Molly McKnight, a mature 1980's rock musical revue that is currently in pre-production. Meredith Day (IMDb.com), prod./dir.; James Calvin Johnson (Rock, Blues, Country Hall of Fame, MN), band dir. Performances start June 2009 in Hollywood, followed by a national, then Australian, tour.

• ABC is casting Wanna Bet?, a new TV show in which celebrities bet on a contestant's ability to perform unique stunts.

• MTV & Ryan Seacrest (exec. prod.) are casting Bromance, a new show starring The Hills' Brody Jenner. Bros selected to participate will be flown to L.A., move into a mansion, and live the celebrity highlife. You will have the opportunity to party with beautiful women and get to see what it's like to be a part of Brody's entourage.

• The Golden State Warriors are seeking talent to perform at all practices, games, and mandatory events (including community service, scheduled appearances, and photo shoots).

• NBC is casting the next season of the relaunch of its classic competition series American Gladiators. The series' hosts are Hulk Hogan and Laila Ali.

• Burnley Music & Entertainment Complex is casting Hollywood Talent Quest, a new reality competition focused on discovering independent artists, part of a web-based series that is also being shopped to major networks. The grand prize winner will receive a 12-track CD, professionally recorded, produced, and mastered ($25,000 value).

• WBZB Entertainment is casting Inland Idol, three vocal competitions to be judged by celebrities from television, music, and Broadway. Prizes include a two-song, professional recording and production deal, singing engagements at regional public events, professional headshot session, and more.

• Blue Man Productions is casting Blue Man Group, a three-person ensemble characterized by a combination of drumming and high-energy, non-verbal acting. Performances are ongoing at The Venetian Theatre in Las Vegas, The Charles Playhouse in Boston, and the Briar Street Theatre in Chicago.

• The On Desktop Broadcast Network is seeking comics for a stand-up comedy contest for which eight will be picked to compete. "Do you think you're the next best comic?" Winner will be featured in their own 30-minute Internet comedy show to be "aired to up to 20 million viewers."

• BusRadio, a national radio network reaching over 1 million 6 to 18-year-old listeners daily as they ride to and from school, is seeking an L.A. entertainment reporter for radio and web videos. We also have a companion website that gets over 200,000 hits per month.

• LAGLC's Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center is casting replacements and understudies for Mister Paradise and And Tell Sad Stories of the Deaths of Queens, two recently discovered one-acts by Tennessee Williams.

• Tripod Pictures is casting Remember My Name, an HDV horror feature. Paul Hough (The Angel, The Backyard), dir.

• Curious Incident Productions is casting Beyond Heaven, an HDV short in which a woman confronts her live-in boyfriend, who plans to meet an ex-girlfriend for lunch. Kenneth Bank, dir. (AFI alumnus).

• Universal Pictures is casting an actress who appears in a scene opposite Seann William Scott for an untitled mentor project. David Wain (Little Big Men, The Ten, Wet Hot American Summer), dir.

• Nickelodeon & Sony BMG are casting a series regular for a music TV pilot.

• L.A. Opera is casting Il Trittico: Il Tabarro & Suor Angelica, Puccini's trilogy of one-act operas at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. William Friedkin (The Exorcist, The French Connection), dir.

• Robert Boyett Theatricals & McCoy/Rigby Entertainment are casting Happy Days the Musical, based on the classic TV series.

• Secret History is casting Save Yourself, "an exciting live action/visual FX music video shoot with conscious and politically charged themes (no booty shaking). This is an amazing opportunity to work with rising L.A.-based MC and dynamic music video production company currently generating a lot of 'heat.' This is a modestly budgeted video shooting in the next few weeks that will definitely gain a lot of exposure."

• JBCasting Networks is holding an agent workshop with Remy Crane from the Mavrick Artists Agency, Tim Weissman from The House of Representatives, Chris Ledford from ABA, and Shana Randell from The Bobby Ball Talent Agency. "Mavrick is a full-service agency with a feature, TV, commercial, music, and sports division that specializes in the representation of young artists. Shana Randell is the heart and soul of the adult theatrical department at the BBA. She has been instrumental in booking her clients in lead roles on projects like Indiana Jones IV, Star Trek, Not Forgotten, My Name is Earl, 24, Without a Trace, Monk, and Carpoolers." Participants will be given an opportunity to perform a scene for agents.

• Bally's Hotel & Casino is casting Jubilee! at Bally's Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

• DSS Entertainment is seeking crew and casting DSSE: Where My Girls At? "KTLA CW 5 and DSSE are teaming up to bring a heart back to the entertainment industry. This 'feel good' show is based around a reality format of young actors and entertainers who are looking to break into the industry and also use their love of philanthropy to spread healing throughout Hollywood.  This is an innovative format that mixes charity, performance, music videos, dance, modeling, VJ'ing, drama and comedy acting, and action. The reality segment of the program is an unscripted competition to win a spot on the cast of Uptown Girls Sketch Comedy Show's pilot episode, and a walk-on role in a feature film among many other opportunities in the 2008-09 DSSE line of productions."

• Trevor Navarra (creative dir.) is casting a photo shoot for a company that makes popular iPod covers.

• Lamont Pete Entertainment is casting MTV's Search for the Next Music Group, a reality competition that pits the hottest up-and-coming music and singing groups of any genre together to compete for a $100,000 prize.

• Monster's Making it Count program is seeking speakers for Making High School Count and The Ultimate Road Trip, 45-minute presentations that are offered to high school and college freshmen. "Making It Count, a division of Monster Worldwide, is the industry leader in 'edutainment' delivering more than 11,000 free educational presentations to high school students, college students, and parents nationwide. Speakers offer motivation and information to students on how to make the most of their high school experience, succeed in college, and best prepare themselves to maximize their opportunities upon graduation. By achieving these goals, Making It Count will play a meaningful role in reversing the long-term negative trends in college graduation rates and graduate employment statistics.  Since 1998, we have reached more than 18 million students!"

• Bill Dance Casting is casting background for Angels & Demons, a feature starring Tom Hanks and Ewan McGregor. Ron Howard, dir.

• The Laugh Factory is seeking campers for its annual comedy camp, which offers comedy training to underprivileged kids from lower-income neighborhoods. For 23 years, kids attending the summer camp have been coached by comics such as Jim Carrey, Dave Chappelle, and Chris Rock. The campers will be rewarded for their hard work and determination with a graduation ceremony at the end of the camp. They will have the opportunity to deliver their routines to family, friends, and several of Hollywood's top executives scouting for new talent. "Laughter heals and provides these kids with the self-esteem to overcome obstacles that many of us don't have to face and to accomplish whatever they set their hearts and minds to," says Laugh Factory owner Jamie Masada.

• JBCasting Networks is holding a casting director workshop with guest speaker associate casting director Jennifer Lurey from Paul Weber Casting of MGM. "This is a busy full-service casting office at MGM that cast hit shows such as Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, and Jeremiah. They have several projects in development including TV features, TV shows, and video. They just wrapped the feature drama thriller Bumper Man and have the feature comedy The Juggler in production." Participants will be given an opportunity to perform a scene for the associate casting director.

• Headquarters Casting is casting background for a legal dramedy pilot. Dean Parisot, dir.; Dave Hemingson, exec. prod.

• Dance to the Music, LLC is casting Dance to the Music, a nonpolitical, positive, fun docudrama/tribute to Sly and the Family Stone.

• Networks Presentations is casting the national tour of Sweeney Todd, originally reconceived by John Doyle.

• Florida State University Graduate Conservatory of Motion Picture, Television, and Recording Arts (winner, Student Academy Award, 2007-08) is casting Understanding the Enemy, a graduate showcase Super 16mm short.

• Hawaiian Tropic Zone & Syrup Swimwear are conducting a calendar model search.

• The John Lennon Songwriting Contest is seeking contestants. Judges include D12, Al Jarreau, Bob Weir, Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees, Jesse Harris, Teairra Mari, The Black Eyed Peas, The Bacon Brothers, Ken Komisar, The Veronicas, and John Legend.

• America Undiscovered is seeking contestants for "the ultimate entertainment industry convention, competition, and educational conference. Meet face to face with over 50 of the top entertainment professionals from around the world, including casting directors, managers, agents, producers, record executives, and talent scouts. Confirmed industry professionals include Creative Artist Agency, Elite Model Management, Atlantic Records, CESD Talent, and William Morris Agency." Guiliana Rancic, E! Entertainment news anchor/host. Convention runs July 10-13 in Chicago.

• Dodger Theatricals Ltd. is casting future replacements for the Las Vegas, Broadway, Chicago, and national touring companies of Jersey Boys. “From the mean streets of Jersey to American Bandstand, this is the thrilling story of how a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks became the biggest doo-wop sensation of all time: The Four Seasons. Using their legendary music, two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff brings to life the exciting early days of rock ‘n’ roll, and the price of fame for four guys who had nothing—and everything—to lose. Jersey Boys was originally produced at the La Jolla Playhouse.”
• Center Theatre Group is casting Minsky’s. Performances run Feb. 4-Mar. 1, 2009 at the Ahmanson Theatre.
• CBS & Mark Burnett Productions are casting Jingles, a new reality show competition searching for the greatest undiscovered marketing genius to write product commercials and jingles. Contestants will write new jingles weekly, to prove that they have the competitive edge and talent to win over a live audience and industry professionals.
• NBC is casting Momma’s Boy, a new reality show about mothers who will work together with their sons to find his perfect woman. “Are you a mom who is frustrated that your son is not dating the right women? Do you look forward to the day your son finds the love of his life, and you get the wedding of your dreams? Maybe your son is still under your roof, and it is time he found a mate, and a place of his own?” Ryan Seacrest, exec. prod.
• The Movie Deal screenplay contest is seeking scripts. “The Movie Deal screenplay contest was founded by filmmakers searching for their next feature film project. Our mission is to offer more exposure to our contestants than other screenplay contests through our industry ties, ranking industry judges, and media saturation, while along the way finding that one special screenplay whose author will have their work whisked into pre-production.”
• Merkley & Partners are casting Arby’s Brigade team members to appear in a commercial and on www.arbysrescuebrigade.com, make personal appearances, participate in interviews and autograph signings, and travel wherever the Brigade is needed. “Do you dream in Beef ‘n Cheddar and Jamocha Shakes? Then you just might have what it takes to be the next member of the Arby’s Rescue Brigade.”
• MGA Entertainment & Fitvid Productions, LLC, are casting The Bratz Dance Styles DVD.
• JBCasting Networks is holding a casting director workshop with guest speaker associate casting director Kendra Castleberry of Donna Rosenstein Casting. “Castleberry is currently working with Donna Rosenstein on several projects including the CBS hit series Ghost Whisperer, and ABC Family’s Wildfire and October Road. She has been working solidly in casting for the past five years. Her past TV projects include Dragnet, Everwood, The O.C., and the pilot for Supernatural. Past feature projects include indie Conquistadora and last summer’s blockbuster Fantastic Four. Brittainy Roberts of Disney casting will also be doing a workshop June 2.”
• San Francisco 49ers Entertainment is casting singers to sing the National Anthem at home games. “If you’ve ever dreamed of singing the National Anthem for the San Francisco 49ers, now is your chance to show the 49ers what you’ve got.”
• MTV is casting Model Maker, a new boot camp-style reality show for girls who dream about being a model but whose weight stops them from reaching their dream.
• TLC is casting LA Ink, a reality show about tattoo artists. Kat Von D, host.
• The Logo Network is casting RuPaul’s Drag Race, a new reality show that features female impersonators competing to be crowned “#1 Queen.”

West-Coast Casting Highlights - 5/15/08

Below are a few highlights from this week's West Coast notices, compiled by West-Coast Casting Editor Cassie Carpenter:

• Center Theatre Group is seeking talent for the Be the One online talent competition, connected with the new national tour of A Chorus Line. Judges at the June 7 Citadel Outlets event will include Kay Cole (Maggie in the original Broadway production of A Chorus Line), Valarie Pettiford and Jane Lanier (both Tony Award nominees for their performances in the Broadway production of Fosse), Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Melissa Manchester, and Claudia Cagan (talent coordinator for E! Entertainment Television). Eight finalists will then be entered into the next round of contesting to compete against finalists from other cities on the A Chorus Line tour for the national grand prize: a trip to New York City including airfare and hotel accommodations, tickets to Broadway shows, backstage tours, show merchandise, meet and greets and more. Plus, one individual will be crowned "L.A.'s Singular Sensation," winning the local grand prize of $500.
• Ashton Ramsey (segment prod.) is casting a circus show for a "major network."
• K'Dee Miller Productions is casting deaf actors for Hamill, a feature. "Told in the same vein as Million Dollar Baby but with a Rudy ending, and inspired by the life of deaf Ultimate Fighter Matt Hamill, Hamill tells the story of what it takes to be a champion, on and off the mat. Raised among those with the ability to hear, Matt later finds himself no less an outsider amidst the Deaf community. But through sheer determination, he uses his disability as an asset, and becomes not only the first deaf wrestler to win a National Collegiate Championship, but an inspirational force to both hearing and deaf alike."
• Lion's Gate Television & Glassman Media are casting a "prime-time reality/documentary show for a major cable network featuring women of all lifeguarding levels, from part-time rookies to full-time advanced ocean lifeguards and may involve various competitions and/or eliminations."
• TLC is casting Nothing To Wear, a reality show that solves the age-old dilemma of too many clothes, but nothing to wear. "We’ll show you how to go green in your closet by recycling what's already in there as we sort out the items worth salvaging from fashion crimes, take you shopping to secure a few classic pieces that will complement your salvaged wardrobe, leave you with examples on how to make the most of your new wardrobe, and we'll update and makeover your closet."
• BFG Communications is casting an online travel series on behalf of an age-restricted brand. Each webisode will feature a unique location, and it will be up to the host to bring the place and its characters to life. Sloane Kelley, prod. The ongoing video series involves multi-day shoots on location approx. once every two months; several webisodes will be shot during each trip. The first episode shoot starts late June in TX; other shoots will take place throughout 2008 in various US locations.
• Vienna Waits Productions, LLC, & John Breglio are casting immediate replacements for the Broadway company as well as the first national tour of A Chorus Line. Binder Casting, casting dirs. Tour cities include L.A, San Francisco, Boston, and Toronto.
• Laurie Seidman (prod.) is casting Beautecast, a how-to video project "with celebrity makeup artist and hairstylists."
