Email Your Resumes - Submit Multimedia Resumes and Cover Letters to Casting Notices -- And Apply to Projects
You can submit your Multimedia Resume (a resume enhanced with photos, links, etc.) to casting directors, producers, directors, and other employers and individuals using a few different options on BackStage.com.
Instructions, Tips & Tricks:
On your Manage Resumes page,
click the View/Eye button next to your resume instead of the
Edit/Wrench button that you’d normally click to update/edit your resume.
After clicking the View button next to your resume from within your Manage Resumes page, your full Multimedia Resume will pop open in a new window.
Scroll to the bottom of the resume and click the “Send Resume” button.
If you use the Send Resume button at the bottom of your resume, you can email the full Multimedia Resume to any email address(es) you want at anytime – you can even email your resume to projects that are not listed on Back Stage, so long as you have an email address available to enter in the “To” field.
However, when sending out your resume via this method, your submissions will not appear in your Submissions Outbox on BackStage.com.
So, to keep track of what emails you’re sending out via this method,
you might want to copy yourself on these submissions by adding your
email address to the "To" field in addition to the "From" field -- to
email multiple people at once, including yourself, simply separate the
"To" email addresses with a comma (e.g., whoever@whoever.com, me@me.com).
On the other hand, if you see the Submit Online Link (a link saying something like, "Click here to directly submit your pix, resume, and reels") and/or the “Apply Now”
button listed below a casting notice on BackStage.com, then click that
link or button and a pop-up window will appear that will let you submit
the full Multimedia Resume and cover letter of your choice to the project.
When this submission option is available for any given casting notice, it’s definitely the best way to submit to the project because this method automatically sends your resume and cover letter to the project in two ways, simultaneously:
(1) Your cover letter and Multimedia Resume (including all photos, video reels, audio clips, links, etc., that you’ve associated with the resume) are added to the project’s BackStage.com Casting Center Submissions Inbox, which the casting directors/producers use to view and organize applications to their projects; and . . .
(2) . . . As a backup, your complete submission package (cover letter and Multimedia Resume) is emailed directly to the project’s regular email address.
That way, even if the casting director/producer isn’t checking his or
her Submissions Inbox on BackStage.com very regularly, they'll still
see your submission via regular email within minutes. Conversely, if
the email bounces, you don’t have to worry – because the casting
director/producer will still be able to view your resume in their
BackStage.com Submissions Inbox.
PLUS, a copy of your submission and a copy of the casting/job notice you applied to are saved in your Submissions Outbox so that you can make sure the submission was sent and reference the casting/job notice again later (including any attached script sides, etc., when available). However, as noted above, although your Outbox keeps track of submissions you made using Back Stage’s “Submit Online” and “Apply” links and buttons, it does not track submissions made via the regular "Send Resume" button.
