Creating Multiple Resumes on BackStage.com -- Help With Managing More Than One Resume

Multimedia-Resumes-BackStage_Header

You can set up multiple Resumes within your BackStage.com account, and you can upload multiple credits, photos, stats, reels (video and audio), embedded media, links, etc., to every resume.

This is a great option if you want to create individual resumes for yourself that focus on specific aspects of your career, since each resume can showcase a different (or overlapping) set of credits, skills, photos, and reels. And it's also handy for Agents and Managers representing multiple actors -- or if there are multiple actors in your immediate family household or you're a "Stage Parent" of more than one child actor -- since it allows you to manage multiple resumes at once.

To get started, simply visit your Manage My Resumes page.

And then click on the “Build Your Multimedia Resume Today!” button or the “Click here to create a new resume” link.

Then fill out the new resume fields. This will add a new resume to your account. It will NOT erase your existing resume(s).

You’ll be able to go back and edit any of your resumes at any time by clicking on the Edit/Wrench button next to the resume you wish to update. You’ll be able to view the resumes independently, using the View/Eye button. You’ll be able to check their stats independently. You’ll be able to choose which resume to submit to any given casting notice/project. Etc.

LIMITATIONS & RESTRICTIONS:

Normally our subscribers use this multiple-resume functionality to set up multiple resumes for themselves – e.g., they’ll have one Main/Default resume where they keep all of their credits and a lot of photos, etc. . . . And then they’ll have one or more secondary resumes that they use for specific job applications. For instance, some actors have secondary resumes for their Dance careers, Singing, or Modeling, or Musical Theatre, or Stand-Up Comedy, or even for their Rock Bands.

But the system wasn’t really built with actors SHARING accounts in mind. So it’s not optimized for that. Technically, each actor is supposed to have their own subscription.

However, if you’re an Agent or Manager, you can create resumes for each of your clients within your account. Or, if there are multiple actors in your family, then you and your immediate family members can share the same account and all have resumes in the account.

Although you shouldn’t share your username or password with just anyone (this would be a violation of your subscription terms agreement, and is also not safe from a billing and privacy standpoint), you can share your account on a limited basis within your household or business.

The only big limitation in regards to the BackStage.com Resume System is that the main PERSONAL CONTACT INFORMATION has to be the same on all of the resumes in your account: If you update the Contact Name, email address, regular address, phone number, etc., on one resume, then it automatically updates the same fields in all of the resumes.

So, only one person can be the main “Contact” person for the resumes. Or you could work around this limitation a bit by entering in your individual contact info into the Contact Info: Agent/Manager Representation field; extra contact info can be added to that field on a per-resume basis without affecting the other resumes in your account. But even in that case, you’ll still want to fill out the main Contact info fields as well – even though all of your resumes will get tagged with that set of contact info – in order keep the functionality of your resume intact within the BackStage.com Talent Database.

Note: We do not recommend putting a street address or apartment number in your Contact fields. For privacy/security reasons, it’s usually best to leave this optional field blank. However, you will want to enter your city/state/zip code, so that casting directors will be able to find you in our database when they’re searching by those fields.

The good news is that the Personal Contact Information is the ONLY set of fields that automatically update across all of the resumes: Outside of that, every resume can have completely unique sets of credits, photos, video reels, privacy settings, Agent/Manager Representation Contact Info, links, etc. And each resume can have its own Name in the main Name field. (Although all of the resumes in your account will share a single Shareable Resume Link landing page for promoting your resumes.)

Likewise, because each subscription is tied to a single email address, all of your Casting Job Alert emails will go to a single email address. But this doesn’t mean that you and your family members/clients can’t all sign up for individual Casting Alerts to search for casting notices that fit their individual needs – it just means that the casting notices will all get sent to the one email address associated with your account, and you’ll have to share from there.

Note that log-in restrictions also apply: Only one person should be logged in to a single BackStage.com account at a time. If multiple people appear to be logging in to the same account at the same time without prior authorization, then Back Stage reserves the right to suspend account access due to abuse of the subscription terms policy.
