Art Imitating Life
The filming of the pilot I am in continues. Nice people. As I mentioned in another blog, I've been learning Spanish after having had two years in high school and another two in college. Why the sudden desire to go back and master it now? I can't really say. It just always has seemed like unfinished business.
With the increasing Spanish speaking population in our country--and certainly in my neighborhood--knowing the language well could only prove to be invaluable, as work as a translator would always be available.
So as I'm thinking about all this, I book this pilot, which involves my character, a doctor, trying to bridge the language chasm between the medical community and the Dominican population of Washington Heights, New York City. How strange is that? I'm a big believer and analyzer of coincidences in my life. The Celestine Prophecy is a great read on the subject. Deepak Chopra's The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire is another one.
It will be nice if the series is picked up by PBS or New York cable. I heard they're filming nine episodes. So I'm assuming that would mean the show has been picked up. I just hope the characters get sick so they need the doctor a lot, ahahha.
