Destilando Amor
I'm studying my Spanish a lot lately, lots of verbs, conjugations, idioms. Nothing is helping more than watching this nightly novella, though: Destilando Amor.
I set my TV for closed captioned for the hearing impaired so that I can read the spanish words as they are being said. This helps me match the words to the pronunciations.
I'm somewhat able to follow what's going on, ahahha. If you're looking for me at 9 p.m., you can be sure I'm watching Destilando Amor, flipping through my dictionary, trying to make sense of what they're saying.
Last night I thought somebody said to another: "Do I look like I'm stupid?" Upon further examination I found out he actually said, "It appears to me to be stupendous."
Clearly, I have a lot more work to do. ahahah
Destilando Amor is on at 9 p.m. weeknights. It's better than most of the stuff on regular TV. (Then again, maybe if I knew what they were saying I might not like it as much.)
Hasta Luego.

Wow, I am glad you are watching telenovelas. I am a Hispanic-American born and raised here in NY, and grew up watching soaps. I tend to watch Reality tv more than anything now but Latin soaps are addicitive. I sometimes am embarrased to admit I like them but they are simply too sexy and appealing to stop watching. You will benefit a great deal from watching Spanish television, I am doing that from watching French Movies and I have improved my french. You should rent the soaps from Netflicks or Blockbuster on DVD this way you can rewind or fast foward. Good Luck

I'm also a gringo studying Spanish who watched Destilando Amor (con subtitulos en espanol) to its exciting conclusion. First rate TV, better than anything I saw last year. I want to buy the DVD's and watch it again. It helped with my aural comprehension. Highly recommended
