Las Manos de Dios
So much is out of our control in this biz, and life in general. I say Do all you can and then just let go and see what happens. The pilot I just booked that I blogged about below taught me that lesson again: Let Go. Let whatever will be, be.
While waiting my turn to audition, I marveled at a poster staring at me. It was for a play that had been produced in the space. This play was called "Las Manos de Dios." Translated in English it means: The Hands of God.
Now that I booked the job, that poster and its title has me chuckling--and marveling too. You know my favorite quote; I've posted it here before: Follow your bliss and invisible hands will come to your aid. --Joseph Campbell.
At that audition space I also ran into people who I had done plays with a few years ago. It was nice to reunite with them. Running into old friends I've always believed is the work of "higher authority."
Tomorrow I have a callback for The Onion! I've blogged here about how much I love their videos online and how much I'd love to be a part of them. I've auditioned for them twice. It's very encouraging to see they remembered me enough to have requested me to come in again. They're calling it a "callback" but I've never auditioned for this particular role before. They must have gone through old auditions and thought I'd be a good astronaut and so called me in.
This is what I mean when I say Let Go. Keep doing what you're doing, but then step back and let the universe do its thing. Things will materialize.
This EQUITY job, this AFTRA job I got seemed to have come out of "nowhere." The callback for The Onion seems to have come out of nowhere, too.
Las Manos de Dios!
