Balance?
New week, new day... Some of the same issues. Spent the weekend revamping bigquiche.com making it much more streamline... For the most part I'm finished, but today I've decided to tweak one more thing with it. And right now I'm waiting for my other computer to render a file, and then I have to post it on YouTube.
Hopefully, I'll be able to complete my "package" and finish sharpening my tools by midweek, so I can get my stuff to a few key agents and managers by next week at the latest... Oh what fun...
Yesterday I finished my volunteer orientation and paperwork at the LA Zoo and I'm now, officially, a volunteer in training, and next Saturday I hope to start the next phase of my Zoo training (enrichment). Unfortunately, I was considering heading out of town to GET AWAY from my computer again... But the Zoo is pretty far away from my computer too. And hopefully I'm done with all the paperwork and PowerPoint presentations.
And I can start getting dirty.
In a series of emails with a friend about the balance of my life... I wrote back how while my life is very varied in what I do, some times it's out of wacky with the time I put into work... And even moments I'm not "working" I'm still more comfortable working. For instance last night, Sunday, a dinner party... I was much more comfortable trying to figure out shots of an upcoming short film with a friend then I was in meeting new people... Though I did meet two. We talked about what we had in common... Work in entertainment. Breakfast Saturday was with a producer/actor friend. Dinner Saturday was with a producer friend. Both trying to figure out what's next... Or how we can help each other out. Friday I went to a friend's theater show, and drinks afterwards... Part of that conversation... "If you ever have something I'd be right for..." Work.
Seven AM this morning I was right back at it... All these websites are great, but, man do they create more work when you change any information... I suppose it'll be "working" till 10PM till I finish a my new writing class... My "off" time will be at the gym... But other than that... Work.
And if it sounds like I'm complaining, I'm not. I love work... That's the weird thing maybe. If you gave me the year off, or ten million dollars, I'd work... Or I'd volunteer... I'd so much rather do that stuff then lay on a beach some where...

The one thing I wouldn't mind not doing so much of is self-promotion... And maybe some of the technical crap... But since no one else is doing it...
The LA Zoooooo is awesome! I'm a member and I love going to see the new gorilla exhibit. And I never knew so many children lived in Los Angeles until I hung out at the zoo for a day. Have a blast!
