14 Hours, 3 States, 2 Buses, 1 Hostel & An Hour's Worth Of On-Camera Work

I'm so tired.  Not SO, so tired - I mean, I have been more tired in the past.  I imagine that I'll be fine until about 3, and then I'll want to cry or attempt a short nap in a ladies' room stall.

Yesterday afternoon I packed, hit a party in Brooklyn to say hi to some former classmates, then hopped a Greyhound (their e-fares are comparable to Chinatown services, only without the Chinatown atmosphere of confusion) to Philly for that student TV/web project.   I got in about 10:10, walked to my hostel (WAY cheaper than a hotel and since I'd only be in the place for roughly 7 unconscious hours, I figured I wouldn't notice the crappiness so much), ironed my badly wrinkled blazer and hit they hay.

When I drifted awake, I glanced at my phone (doubles as my alarm) which read: 6:42.  SH*T!  I was due to at the studio at 6:30!  It was like a nightmare.   Somehow my alarm never rang.  I felt like an ass!  Without internet service at home all weekend (just mysteriously stopped working), I was already behind the preparedness curve - and now this!  I was late as it was and not even dressed yet.  Plus, I had a 15-20 minute walk to the studio.

Feeling more and more like an unprofessional clod, I jumped out of bed - not caring about waking everyone else in the "dorm" - threw my clothes on, then sat on the floor to pull on my shoes when I realized... they aren't my shoes.  I don't own shoes like this at all...

Turns out it was a nightmare.  Ha - and a very real and convincing one at that.  (Except for the bit about the shoes - even in REM I can recognize bad footwear... ;)  When I realized I'd been dreaming after all, I woke up and re-checked my alarm settings - something I should have done before passing out.  But, obviously my subconscious took care of that warning.

Anywho... I was wide awake by 4:14 this morning - courtesy my newfound alarm anxiety - so I got to the set right on time.  Everything went well.  It's not a big budget project or even close, but still, you want it to turn out great and be professional and do an artistically sound job.  I hope I did good.

Bed I was done by 7:30, changed in the bathroom and ran to the station for my 8:30 bus back to the city, and, as of 11, I have been at my desk... which is just begging me to curl up under it...
