Heat

M_d7806c63d5e11d1e9b16b1c8bae25bd3Been a way for a few days. Not from Los Angeles. Not from life. But from this Blog... It's not that nothing was going on. Or that nothing worth writing about occurred. It's just... For a few days I sort of forgot about this responsibility. For a few days I didn't really want to examine what I was doing, thinking, feeling, experiencing... For a few days I wanted to be off.

The heat probably contributed to that as much as anything... On Saturday I scheduled myself to be at the Zoo all day and into the night, but by 11AM I was walking back down the hill as there wasn't much work to be done, and NO ONE was in the mood for doing anything.

At 11AM the normally busy Zoo was still relatively quiet... Playgrounds were still empty. People were walking very slowly. And by 11AM the animals were already hiding from the sun. The Lions and Tigers were as far away as they could get... Making themselves as small as they could be... In the shade... Against the rocks... The Chimps were  hidden too, sitting next to the waterfall or man made creek in the shade... Each animal content on just existing.

Perhaps I make too much out of things... But every time this weekend I got down on myself for NOT doing something I just referred back to what I saw the animals doing...

"Doing nothing is good enough for Chimps, so doing nothing is good enough for me."

Friday I made the mistake of not paying attention to the thermometer and worked at my desk, rewriting (S4tD) all day, running around, trying to make appointments... by 4PM I was a sweaty monster in a foul mood... Almost looking for a fight.

Saturday I got smart and turn my air on early, and whenever I felt overwhelmed with the heat or script choices, I took a break.

Sunday I didn't have much choice as I had a shoot scheduled, but we did as much as we could early, and since it was my one of my own productions I decided very early on that if we didn't get it all done in one day, or had to "pick something up" later, that wouldn't be a problem.

We got everything done... I even got it all captured and edited last night... Being willing to NOT get it done under a time line allowed me to relax more, and be more focused on the all important heat management.

Being WILLING to not focus on the, at times, microscopic or magnification examination of my own self for a few days was really good too. But today, appropriately a Monday, I'm back on the horse

Below is the video I shot, captured and edited yesterday, if you know Marian let her know how great she is in it, and if you don't know her you can find out more about her HERE. She's currently writing and recording her 3rd album.
