Passion Project

Stacey1_2 The amount of alcohol consumed this weekend was bound to catch up with me.  Hellooo rough Monday.  I've overcompensated by dressing to the nines and putting on my best friendly face while sneaking some Advil in the copy room.  Oh, but the wedding weekend was so lovely.  Rose petals littered the walkways, romance was in the air and food was stuck in my teeth.  WHAT?!  Yeeeah, as I was running around meeting fancy people and being a social butterfly, I had a green oak leaf stuck in the middle of my front tooth that not one person felt compelled to bring to my attention.  Picture proof is all over my camera.  God, I'm a dork.  But, if they were as inebriated as I was, perhaps their vision was hampered too.

There is a film in pre-production that I'm determined to be seen for.  I've had my eye on it for months and I feel a bit like our friend, Ms. Atwood, as I super sleuth it out.   Names were being attached to the production when the writer's strike hit and it was deemed a "strike casualty."  But thanks to a little digging and a tiny blurb printed in our trusty Back Stage, it seems that the film is back on (actor strike, pending) with a new casting department Now that I know who and where to send my materials, it's time to make a move.

I'm going to be a little bit vague because there is a superstitious part of me that feels once I utter the  production name aloud, I will have opened myself to outside pressure and invited bad luck into my pursuit.  What I will say is that this passion project of mine is the type of film that I have been working towards for years.  It requires a very specific skill and, luckily, I was able to do a project about a year ago that provided me with a very specific reel that caters to the style of the film.

Under Five?  Bit part?  Really, there is no part too small for me in this film.  So while I dream of Stacey2bigger things and bigger opportunities and while I hope casting opens my little package and screams "We've found her!", I'd really just like to open a door and have a shot at being a part of  the production.

Here's to passionately pursuing your dream!

(Yep, only closed mouth pictures this time around)

*sigh* I never got called for anything for that film I so desperately wanted to be a part of... I haven't lost ALL hope yet... but... it's waning. I never did directly mail to the BG office, though I submit myself for BG many times through Casting Networks. I am not SAG though, and I think that really held me back. Maybe I'll send them a postcard today, just in case...

Good luck! (And killer dress, btw.)

And good luck to you, Susan! As much as we want to be a part of certain projects, I really think the important thing is that we try. Trying involves time and research, and honestly a lot of people don't get that far. And maybe the most important thing is that we know what we want, we are passionate about something and we try to align ourselves with work that feeds that passion. Ultimately, the rest is out of our hands.
