Happy 4th!!
Like a total lame-ass loser, my plans for the 4th of July included hanging out in my apartment going through my score and script, drinking coffee, and doing laundry. By the time 3pm rolled around, I was bored and lonely. I had already talked to my mom twice on the phone. My roommate was having fun at the beach, and my best friend Shawn was in Poconos. But I was determined, just keep pacing and learn that music! (However, like trying to do your homework when your favorite show is on television, nothing was really getting done.)
Luckily, I had some Nebraska college friends calling to snap me back into reality. “Hellllooooo! They gave you a day off for a reason. You live in New York! You should be enjoying the holiday! Maybe next year you won’t have the 4th of July off. If you seriously watch the Macy’s fireworks on TV instead of walking 10minutes to the water to watch in real time, you are NOT one of the cool kids." Not one of the cool kids? Threatening my popularity is pretty much the best way to convince me to do anything. (That, or dangling a bag of cherry sour patch kids in front of me.)
So I shower, call my friend Craig, who’s headed to a bbq, and decide to spend the rest of the holiday enjoying the 4th. I’m so glad I did because I had a blast eating ice cream, watching fireworks, and catching up with some NYU friends and my Nebraska peeps, plus the fireworks display was fabulous!! Yay!!! Happy 4th of July! (I’ll get back to that music tomorrow).

Don't feel bad, Emily! I went to visit my mom in New Jersey for the holiday, otherwise I wouldn't have had any plans either. Sometimes it's like that. (Glad you called your friend Craig and had fun though!)
BTW, every Friday in the summer, there are fireworks in Coney Island. One of my friends and I are going to head over there next Friday. It's fun - I didn't get a chance to see fireworks this weekend, and I always associate it with summer!
