Spontenaity + Wine = Atlantic City
... What's an artist without completely (and potentially slightly over-ambitious/stupid), spontaneity?
In a word, er... me. At this moment.
About forty five minutes ago, I decided to hop a bus to Atlantic City.
Now, I've done several borderline exciting/stupid things in my lifetime. Make that a handful. Eheerr... more like a monthly/bi-weekly occurrence, now that I really nose-scrunchingly think about it. This week was shockingly laden with them. A list, if you will.
Stupid Thing #1, Monday -- Purchased a mini-dv camera (Canon GL2...!!!) that I absolutely cannot afford and put it on my credit card (which I was actually finally kinda paying off).
Stupid Thing #2, Wednesday -- Purchased various pieces of sound equipment and a tripod for above mentioned camera.
Stupid Thing #3, Thursday -- Went out with Moron-who-I-kinda-knew-wanted-to-sleep-with-me-but-has-AWESOME-connections, left his "group" early. Consoled myself with massive burger. And fries.
Stupid Thing #4, Friday -- Decided to take ONE weekend this summer off, cancelled all of my ballroom lessons for the next three days. Pissed off one really anal wedding couple.
Stupid Thing #5, Saturday -- Got tipsy on Manoschevitz grape wine, bought lottery tickets for the first time -- won $23 and was feeling "lucky" -- decided to hop on a bus to Atlantic City with my equally ridiculous best friend.
______
That brings us up to now, at 11:35pm. I have an hour and a half left of bus-ride, and I have absolutely no idea what I'm even planning to do in Atlantic City. I've never really gambled before (except one time on a cruise ship when I was eighteen and got REALLY excited about this concept called "Craps"), but I'm finally legally old enough to do so. I packed a bathing suite, as I'm assuming we'll eventually take advantage of the we're on the sea-shore thing.
But as I sit here pondering, staring out the window at the delightfully dark sky (oh, how I love to travel when it's pitch-black outside... such adventure, such unknown!) I chide myself about my idiocy with finances lately. Wasn't it me who just got into a fight with a Bank of America manager about my nine overdrafts (whoops, forgot to include a Stupid Thing for Friday.. we'll call that one #4A).
However. As I said before.
What's an artist without spontaneity?
And I haven't done anything all summer but work. Seven days a week. It's time to say "screw it" and go have fun for 48 hours. And who knows -- maybe this will somehow enhance my Meisner-ness. Or I'll win a billion dollars and create "Backstage2". Just kidding, Nielson Media.

I've done a very similar thing. One Sunday at around 6pm my friend and I were talking about how bored we were. So we decided to drive to Las Vegas for the night! We were almost there and then my friend got a call from her agent that she booked a job and had a 12pm call time. We didn't want to turn around so we got to Vegas at about 11pm, gambled, walked around, and left to go home at 6am. It was so random and we spent less time in Vegas than we did driving there! But I think that everyone should do something random like that once in their lives.
