Well, At Least I Didn't Wear Earrings
I had a last minute commercial audition today, and while I showed up entirely wrong for the part (mostly due to the fact that my hair was in pigtails and I didn't know I was playing a mom role until I got into the room), I did do something right: I didn't wear earrings. And really, that's something to hold onto and feel good about. heh heh The audition required only that I stare at the camera with no expression at all. "Don't blink!" they said. K'doke. "Don't wear earrings!" they said last time I visited the office. Hmm..this office likes negative reinforcement. In any case, the audition required so much talent that I'm sure I'm not even in the running and I think I can live with that. Plus, please, everybody jump in together and say stuff like, "You? A mom? You look 16!" *Sigh* Why do I still feel 16?
On the positive side, I'm famous! You can catch my picture in the newest edition of SAG magazine with some pretty smart quoteables that I'm not quite sure I really said. My phone has been buzzing all day with congratulations. One woman called and cheered "Stacey!" like we were old friends. I struggled to figure out how I knew her since she seemed to have a certain familiarity. Later, she confessed she was staring at my picture in SAG magazine. Don't let anybody tell you that fame doesn't have its drawbacks.
Okay, so y'all remember how I was supposed to shoot this short I wrote and was producing and then my director's wife went into labor and then I told you it was gonna happen again a few weeks ago? Well, it didn't happen a few weeks ago for more reasons that were entirely out of my control, but I didn't tell you because I figured your patience (and interest), like mine, was waning. Well, I'm happy to report that this Saturday, by George, it really is happening. Third time is a charm! I'll save any further boasting until the real deal occurs, but I'm pretty tickled right now. I've been waiting to shoot this thing since September and I'm really excited about the possibilities for further self-produced projects and quality editions to my ever suffering reel.
I'm kind of loopy this evening...must be the wine.

We should start a "Non-Sixteen Year Olds Who Everybody Wants to Remind They Look Sixteen" Club. Good luck this weekend!
