Holiday Delusions & Sundance Directors
I woke up today mentally still clinging to a piece of garland. The weekend after New Years... no matter how hard we try to justify it, the holidays have been officially liquidated. No pun intended.
So... as I drag my This-Was-A-Mistake 8 foot live Christmas tree down several flights of stairs and out of my brownstone (no waiting till April this year), I mourn the loss of CVS Christmas Carols and general recession denial cheer.
I've made some changes in the last handful of weeks (professionally and personally), in a monumental effort to make 2009 a big year. Not just big... epic. Yes, epic! In exactly twenty two days, I turn... twenty-two. And as a woman in this industry... it's time to replace the merrily trotting buggy with something that has an engine, if you know what I mean.
Or, as usual, I could just be characteristically unhinged.
My first task of the year is a meeting this evening with Big Sundance Director, who recently saw a few of my reels and wishes to chat about a series of New York-esque short films he's producing, post 2009's 'Dance. Who knows where it'll go... but nevertheless, a tad exciting.
And even more exciting? The stockpile of chocolate I have in my refrigerator. A most gratifying evening this shall be, yet.
