My New Roommate!!

100_0071 The sky is falling!......No, wait, that’s pieces of ceiling in my bedroom.

It’s raining!!....no wait…that's the pipe that started to leak in roommate’s room and is now dripping everywhere….hold on, I have to go empty the bucket.

I'm trapped!  I locked myself in the bathroom!!!....no, wait…that’s the linoleum in the kitchen peeling up so bad that it’s wedged between the door and the floor.  I guess I can't close the bathroom door all the way anymore without knowing if I will be able to shove my way back out.

Ahhh….New York City….the things we put up with for cheap rent in a sweet-ass neighborhood!   You can get a much better apartment in Nebraska for the half the money and without a lean…but Nebraska isn’t nearly as fashionable as Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

When my landlord left a letter to my roommate and I a few weeks before January to let us know he was upping the rent, I wasn’t surprised.  We’ve been living in this shitty place with broken faucets and crumbling plaster for a whole year now; it was definitely time for a rent increase.  Well, my roommate and I discussed and both agreed we didn’t want to leave our Brooklyn buddies, but we weren’t paying without getting a few things fixed up.  The landlord came by…and agreed!  Long story short: Somehow our sweet, pleading faces finagled a whole apartment renovation!  We’re getting fresh paint, new faucets, and an all new kitchen floor and cabinets.  It’s going to be great!  The only problem is that I sorta need to find a place to live for a few days while they fix my apartment up.

Luckily, I know a Super Swing  who also happens to be a Super Friend!  Morgan said I could stay at his place this week while my apartment gets renovated.  Tonight is my first night living in a studio in Midtown Manhattan!!  It’s gonna be great to be so close to the theatre.  Whooo Hooo!! Par-tay!

I know I’m only gonna be there a couple nights, so I’ve limited myself to two small suitcases and a penguin shaped humidifier named Peter.(Gots to keep my skin and vocal chords hydrated and healthy.)  I was going to bring my own pillow, but Morgan said I could use one of his pillows.  (I wonder if he knows I have a small problem with drooling in my sleep...)

I can’t wait!  Morgan’s gonna love me as a roommate.  Maybe I’ll throw him a bunch of surprise parties every night this week.  Maybe I’ll make him a bunch of food to thank him. I don't really cook, but he has a great kitchen and I want to try everything out!

As roommates, I believe in taking care of eachother and sharing everything.  He can borrow my clothes...I know Morgan’s a boy, but some guys are into that kind of thing.  And MY food is HIS food….likewise…his food is MY food!  teehehehe

The only thing I’m nervous about is sometimes I get scared to sleep in a new place.  Then, I have bad dreams, and toss and turn, and scream obscenities in my sleep.  It’s really frightening…but I don’t think I’ll get too scared if I have someone to cuddle with…...

I hope Morgan’s a good spooner!!

Sweet Dreams!

Ooh, you're so lucky!
Well, not about your apartment crumbling, but getting it fixed and rooming with Morgan haha. Have fun cooking for/sharing clothes with him :)

Emmy,
Stick with the muffins mixes where you just add water, oil and egg. Not that you couldn't do something harder but let's face it, adding a little more milk to Mac N Cheese is your one and only recipe idea. Oh and, right, adding the extra marshmallows in Rice Krispie bars. And the only spoonin' you better be doing is the muffin mix into the tins and the soupy Krispie Bars into your mouth.--Your momma.
