Back on Representation Track : Agency Meeting Tomorrow
For some reason the thought of attempting to balance a near-full wine glass -- swirling about with three dollar Rosé -- on my futon mattress wouldn't be a poor idea. The resulting cracked glassware has proven me blissfully imprecise.
As of yesterday evening, I've moved into "The Nook", as my Los Angeles roommates and I have taken to calling it. It's exactly that -- the nook off the kitchen -- which I will soon be fung shui-ing to an absurd extent. The actual room is tiny, but my flatmates are incredible (previous bedroom I was was only available for five weeks) and thus -- into the Nook I shall, and have! gone.
Fabulous Manager and I have decided to officially part with Elusive Agent -- and tomorrow lends itself for my first big agency meeting out here. At noon I'll be sitting down with both the commercial and film departments, and I'm nearly warbling with excitement.
Change is always good. Giving up my lease in Manhattan [financially] was good. Moving to Los Angeles was [hopefully intelligently] good. Leaving Elusive Agent for greener and more appropriate LA-LA land pastures will [most definitely] be good.
I'm tentative to mention this new agency's name unless I actually end up signing with them, but they've got a slew of heavy hitters in the film and television worlds. I've only taken a handful of legit agency meetings before -- I mean, I met with Elusive Agent and the few prior to her, but they were all relatively informal and via an introduction from Fabulous Manager. Elusive Agent had already seen some of my stuff, my footage, audition tapes, etc. I feel a little off kilter on this one. Los Angeles has yet to become my sure-footed turf.
That said, I know I'm ready to go in and rock an agency like this -- it's time. I've worked my now Yoga-fied arse off. I've been cast and am working with Big Sundance Director on a second project this year. I feel like the seasons upon seasons of conservatory training and hit-the-pavement-and-casting-director-"slash"-get-into-debt-sessions have all paid off. Even if I did get kicked out of William Esper. Ha! Did I write that out loud?
And thus... as I pace about the apartment, arranging my clothing by color and thread... memorizing sides for a project to put on tape by Friday... and wondering what in heck will go down tomorrow... I'm pretty darn content.
Curious, ever curious... as to what tomorrow will bring.
Hankering, strangely, for a Starfruit (?!), Ashley Avis
BEEN CAST WHAT?!!!!!! Not according to this blog you havent. You should be getting cast for minor things all the time. Good luck tomorrow!
