Lemon's Lurve List: Shelley Winters

One of the things I've been doing since starting rehearsal is watching movies!  Can you believe watching old movies is part of my job?  Pretty awesome.

The girl I'm playing on tour is really into old movies and independent films.  A couple nights ago, I met up with fellow blogger Shawn and watched the Stanley Kubrick version of Lolita from 1962.  Although only in the first half of the movie, Shelley Winters made such an impression on me!  I had also recently watched Night of the Hunter, in which she was also excellent.  Next evening I have free, I'm watching A Place in the Sun!  She's so subtle and real and charmingly awkward!  It's great to discover new, er, I mean old movie actresses that make you smile and make you want to keep working to get better!

My only problem with her is that now I'm wasting all this time on You Tube watching clips from old movies and interviews with her when I should be packing!  Oh well, this is important research!!  Oh!!  And she even sings!  The clip above is from Lolita, and I'm also including this other of her singing the song "Lie to Me."  Hope you enjoy!!
