Mostly Successful Day Off

Sunset-Shot-R Yesterday was technically the beginning of my intentional 1.5 months in which I will not worry about my career. It's summer, it's slow, I should be drinking margaritas and not thinking too much about how I'm going to get out for pilot season next year. So yesterday I slept in, went into Manhattan(this is where I cheated), shot a  little bit for my web project, ran into friends, went to a street fair, drank beer at the Frying Pan, and went to lemon's going away party.
All in all a pretty successful little summer sunday. The first of many if I have anything to say about it. It felt pretty good, to push myself to not think about my career, to not talk about it, except for those moments where I tell people that I'm taking a little break. Which happened a lot at Emily's going away party. Most people seemed to think it was a good idea. Because nothing's really happening right now, so there's no reason to sweat it.

And Emily's going away! For 9 months! What will I do! Who will I get ice cream with! Who will try to start fake blog fights with me! Seriously though, Emily and I were in our first show in NYC together back in the fall of 2006, and it's crazy to see how far she has come. I remember our little pow-wows at the alligator lounge, talking about what's next for both of us, before she even had an agent!
Also, not to diminish her extraordinary talent and motivation, she's of the 'type' that seems to be working A LOT right now. Actually the only actors I know that are working consistently are that type - the 20-somehing girl that can play a teen. I suppose they are pretty hard to find, and keep getting old just when they hit their stride.
But my 2nd day of not thinking about my career too much has now failed, evidenced by the previous paragraph. Drat. I will continue to endeavor to not thinking about my career, and let you all know how it goes. Because I'm sure that will be fascinating. I promise.
