You Know You've Been In Los Angeles Too Long When...
It's been a very slooooow week on my end, and judging by the grumbles from others on the blog, it has been for a lot of people. Auditions? Zilch. Class was canceled because everybody is on vacation or "taking a break" from acting for the summer. My sketch show has retired until fall. Basically, I had a little bit of time this week to chill and then get bored and then start contemplating a variety of beauty treatments to make me look sexier under the guise of "part of the job" Did I really just make an appointment for "facial electrolysis" with an "electroyogi"? Oh boy.
You know you've been in Los Angeles too long when...
A seven dollar beer starts to sound really cheap.
Your destination is two blocks away and your friend says, "Who's driving?"
You put on lipstick for the gym and you're not even single.
You find yourself buying doggie clothes instead of baby clothes for your married friends.
You haven't seen the ocean in six months because it's "on the west side."
Your clothes are all Forever 21 but your sunglasses are Prada.
You're contemplating a round of Invisalign, professional teeth whitening, a breast reduction or enhancement, some lipo and, oh yes, electrolysis because those are the only commercials you hear on the radio.
You work out next to Fabio and "Robin" from General Hospital.
And I'm just talking about today. Thank God I'm going home to Iowa in two weeks. I need a healthy dose of carbs, cows and sweet corn. I'm looking forward to a little something called the "Hog Report" on AM radio, a trip to Wal-Mart and a lazy day on a pontoon. Some people in my family might call this "a dose of reality," but in truth, my reality is little bit of both.
There are so many cheap places for drinks! There was an article in Los Angeles Magazine all about cheap eats, and there was a feature on drink all costing less than $2! If you can't find it online, let me know. I saved the article for me!

Hi Stacey, thanks so much for all the info you provide. Stuff written buy you is not only really fun to read but also very informative...keep up the good work! I wanted to ask you about an article about cover letters that was in the print version of backstage back in may, (i think). I looked and looked and could not find a contact email for you so perhaps you could email me so I could ask you the question re cover letters? Thanks again, hope to talk to you soon!
