Closer and closer
I was pretty happy when 'Paradigm' showed up on my ringing iphone yesterday. Even happier when I was called back for the national dunkin' donuts spot. Slightly less happy that it was a day-of audition it was at 6:50 pm. Really? is this a dinner date? That meant I had to leave my tutoring gig in NJ earlier, rush back into the city with my zipcar right to the casting studio, do my thing, return the car, and then go shoot my internet video sensation.
I was starting to get stressed out just thinking about it all.
It ended up all flowing together and working somehow, the only part that didn't really work, was my audition. Commercial auditions are soooo much about the chemistry you have with your fellow actors in the room, and the lady in my group who was responsible for the main role, was just working waaay to hard. Waaay tooo hard. It's not shakespeare, it's a donut commercial. I understand a bit of nervousness, there were like 10 additional people in the room, but just relax.
So I would be highly shocked if I booked this spot, but that's okay. I'm just glad that they called again, as I hadn't heard from them since march, and that I got called back for it. That's a step in the right direction. That's what we call progress. I'm much happier to plug away at auditions for projects that could pay my rent for a year, than just for one month.
