Birthdays and Reflections

AnalyticalSmall
Last night, a few hours before I was ready to go to bed, I spoke to my mom and older brother as they called and wished me a Happy Birthday (right after midnight as they do every year). After getting off of the phone with them and talking to my younger brother, I went to my couch in my living room (just finished decorating for Christmas) and thought about how far I have come within the year.

Gobble Gobble

SD1335W_resized
Thanksgiving has been hard for my family for the last few years for a few reasons. The main reason was that for 3 years in a row, we lost someone in our family. You can tell your age by how man of your elders are left. My step-father passed in 2004, maternal grandmother in 2005, and paternal grandmother in 2006. From that moment, I always try to be as thankful for my family and friends more than anything else.

A NEW ROLE

Blackstar-resized
As many of you may know by now, I model as well as train to become an actor. Modeling is  a lot like acting in the sense that you have to become a character and portray that character to the best of your ability. So a few days ago I got a call to do a magazine cover. Lord knows I need the money so I begin to ask more details about the project. The more I inquire about the project the more that I begin to realize what I am getting myself into. After a full description of the project, concept, and the team that would be shooting, I asked the million dollar question. What kind of magazine is this?

A Soldiers Play Recap

20's4

Just as a short recap about this audition. I went to Chestnut Hill, Pa (right outside of philadelphia) and auditioned for the part. I was surprised that we read against the other actor. I would read my part against his and then we would trade off. The guy that i read against was freaking amazing. Like almost amazing to where it is intimidating.

Remember My Name

Brown

As I sat in a theater with a few people watching FAME. I realized that a dream can be deferred by others decisions. When i was in 8th grade and getting ready to attend the performing arts school in Harrisburg, I was informed that it would be closing and we had to either attend the regular high school or the vocational technical high school.

That wasn't a part of what I wanted. I wanted to attend Riverside and study acting and

How Serious Are You?

Copy of Purple-Small

I watched some youtube videos of people that are "interesting" and lets just say that everybody is a star in their own light. Every person that takes a picture is now a photographer, every person that gets in front of a camera is now a model, and every one that watches a good movie

A Soldiers Play

20's1

I am very excited that I have the opportunity to audition for the classic play "A Soldiers Play". I have seen the movie and the play and have become really proud to just have an audition. The original cast of actors that have taken parts in the play include Adolph Ceasar, Denzel Washington, Samuel L Jackson, and Peter Friedman. Those are huge shoes to fill, but i am sure I can handle it.

Last night was the script reading for the play. Have you ever been to a script reading

Work Ethic

 Picture 004

When I went to my first audition, I watched interview after interview after interview of Will Smith. I wanted to know what it was that made him this great actor.  He admitted that he is a sup-par actor but h work ethic is what separates him from others.

I thought about what i was doing at the moment and asked myself if i could honestly say that if i didn't get this role, that i went in that room and did the absolute best job that i possibly could have done. The more I thought

Still Having Connections

Penn5471

Its funny that I have connections that i don't realize that I have. With owning the magazine and modeling, I have made a lot of "buddys" in the entertainment industry. I have been blessed to be able to speak to people like Bill Cosby, Hill Harper, Henry Simmons, Lawrence Fishburn, Diddy, Christian Keyes, and some other people. I have been able to ask them for advice and for tips and for guidance.

I realized this weekend when i was texting Collins Pennie about some pictures and a sneaker company that we were talking about during his interview that i have this circle of people that I have become "familiar" with.

Introduction

Under The Bride_small Hey everyone,

The hard part of your first blog is that you have to figure out what information is important and what isn't necessary at the moment. You want to give this well rounded introduction of who you are so that you don't have to explain more at a later date. Well.... that's not going to happen lol.

I have been a model for about 3 years now. So you will see a lot of my modeling work coinciding with the acting. I have always wanted to act but growing up in the inner cities of Harrisburg, PA., there weren't any outlets for me as an underprivileged kid. My parents didn't have the money for acting classes so it was a dream deferred. It wasn't until I spoke to a friend of mine that is a director and producer that reassured me that I wasn't too old at 27 to start my career.
