In David Hasselhoff News...

(...or in "More Signs of the Apocalypse News," depending on your point of view) E! network has announced plans for Tales of the Hoff, a scripted comedy series produced by Ryan Seacrest and starring over-the-hill Baywatch and Knight Rider star David Hasselhoff.

Variety reports that the show "will follow the fictional dark and twisted trials and tribulations of an international icon as he navigates Hollywood and the world of dating after divorce...Hasselhoff will play the title role in the project, which insiders said will have a Curb Your Enthusiasm feel."

What with his willingess to poke fun at himself in winking music videos, movie cameos, those stupid "Don't Hassle The Hoff" shirts (which he himself has been known to sport) ...this "postmodern" adoration of Hasselhoff is already wearing pretty thin.

Apparently, the project began when The Hoff, currently a judge on NBC's America's Got Talent, talked with friends about how his life might inspire an interesting TV show. (Maybe a better title would be David Haselhoff is 75...and Single.)

Here is a small taste of what viewers might have to look forward to:
