ComedyCures Nets $3,500

Comics Leighann Lord, Laurie Kilmartin, and Saranne Rothberg appeared at an event last week at Broadway Comedy Club to help raise $3,500 for Rothberg's ComedyCures, a nonprofit organization that uses comedy as therapy for children and adults suffering from trauma, illness, depression, and disabilities.

The Jan. 17 event was sponsored by The Three Tomatoes, an online newsletter geared toward women of the Baby Boom generation. Also attending was the plus-size model Emme who, like Rothberg, is a cancer survivor. Rothberg founded ComedyCures in 1999 while receiving chemotherapy for Stage IV cancer.
