East Meets West

Eastwest_3 Los Angeles' East West Players is accepting submissions for its national playwriting competition Pacific Century. Scripts should be unproduced full-length plays and musicals with Asian Pacific-American themes and/or characters as the primary focus. All genres welcome; comedies particularly encouraged. Casts should be eight actors or fewer for plays, 12 or fewer for musicals. All works must have a runtime of less than two and a half hours, including a 15-minute intermission. Winners will be selected by a panel of artists. Past judges include David Henry Hwang, Philip Kan Gotanda, and Henry Chan. First-, second-, and third-prize winners will receive $5,000, $2,500, and $1,000, respectively. All will be considered for workshop or production opportunities.
