Equity Moves to New Office in Hollywood

Strikewatch_blog_2 This news is more union-related than strike related--Actors' Equity Association is moving to a new office in Hollywood on Tuesday, April 29, leaving the Screen Actors Guild building at 5757 Wilshire Blvd. Its new home will be 6755 Hollywood Boulevard, 5th Floor, Hollywood.

Equity's Assistant Executive Director Steve DiPaola explained the move on the union's web site...

"Given rental costs in the Museum Square area of Los Angeles, we felt that there were other areas that would give us greater opportunities along with proximity to where our members live for comparable costs. In consultation with the Western Regional Board, we began to seek out locations that would meet those requirements. After an extensive and comprehensive search, we came up with the Hollywood Boulevard location. We are currently in the process of designing this new space, which will include a member education center, a new wifi-capable boardroom and many other upgrades."

Guess the economic crunch is being felt everywhere.  Equity's National Director of Policy Mary Lou Westerfield said the new spot will be more conveniently located in a theatre neighborhood with easy access to public transportation and parking.

The Equity office will be closed on April 25 and 28 tin preparation for the move.
