Broadway Numbers Off Due to Strike
Paid attendance and gross revenue on Broadway this season fell for the first time in several years, the Broadway League announced in a news release, largely due to a strike by stagehands in November. The dropoffs were minuscule: 0.2 percent for paid attendance, 0.16 percent for gross revenue.
However, the league contended, if the 19-day work stoppage had not occurred, all-time highs would have been set in each category: 12.9 million tickets sold, and $975 million in revenue.
