More 'Guys and Dolls'
It never fails. You've heard me complain about this before. As soon as I list all the new shows for an upcoming season, another one gets announced. After yesterday's post of the 2008-09 season, we received a press release that a new revival of Guys and Dolls is planned for spring 2009. This one is not to be confused with the Donmar Warehouse production which was supposed to transfer from London to Broadway last year, but was indefinitely postponed because the big-name actors they had planned for the four leads were unavailable because of the writers' strike. They all had commitments to work on movies before the strike brought a halt to production. Anyway, this Guys and Dolls is totally different and will be directed by Des MacAnuff and choreographed by Sergio Trujillo. The cast will be announced soon. I guess I'm getting old. I have very clear memories of the 1992 Guys and Dolls. The press release states it's been 17 years since that show closed and that's the longest period between Broadway productions of G and D.
BTW, there was an earthquake in L.A. this morning. Everybody in the Back Stage West office is okay.
