Casting Eugene for 'Brighton Beach' & 'Broadway Bound'

BrightonBeachMemoirs Equity principal auditions are being held next Monday for the role of Eugene in both Brighton Beach Memoirs and Broadway Bound. The character, Eugene Morris Jerome, is the narrator of both plays: Jewish, from Brooklyn, intelligent, athletic, attractive, introspective with a winning personality, ironic sense of humor, vivid imagination, aspiring writer and accomplished storyteller.

In Brighton Beach, set in 1937, Eugene is 23 years old; in Broadway Bound, set in 1949, he's 15. Binder Casting is lookig for male actors who can convincingly play both ages. Rehearsals start late summer or early fall 2009.

Auditions will be held Nov. 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a break for lunch from 1 to 2, at the Actors' Equity Audition Center, 165 West 46th St., 2nd floor, Studio C. Prepare a brief monologue from any Neil Simon play (preferred) or in the style of Simon. Bring pix & resumes, stapled together. Other characters will be cast at a later date.
