Whoopi Goldberg is producing -- but will not star -- in a London stage version of Sister Act, her hit 1992 movie about an on-the-lam singer who hides out in a convent. The musical will open June 2, 2009, according to AP.
The newest co-host of The View told a reporter in a telephone interview that "rather than have someone repeat what was, you have to take it and redo it. The show is fun. It’s not boring.”
There haven't been any casting announcements yet.
And yes, I can admit it. I totally loved this movie. I think Whoopi is really charming and funny and warm, even when she's doing some cheesy, silly project. You just can't help but like her. And I think Sister Act rocks on stage...but no Whoopi?!?! So sad.
