Sterling Ups the Entertainment Ante
Veteran producer Michael Sterling, who for the past two years has offered a sensational cabaret showcase with his Sterling's Upstairs at Vitello's in Studio City, has revealed another promising enertainment venture. Beginning January 7, 2009, Sterling will offer Broadway in Concert! at the Canyon, bringing this impresario's special brand of showbiz pizzazz to the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, California. According to Sterling there is no cabaret concert series of this caliber in the West San Fernando Valley.
The Wednesday evening series kicks off January 7 with acclaimed performer Ilene Graff (left), the Grammy-nominated actor-singer (TV's Mr. Belvedere, Broadway's Promises, Promises I Love My Wife, Grease). Among many other credits, she also starred as Mama Rose in a Gypsy revival. Her husband Ben Lanzarone serves as musical director for her appearance.
Next up, on January 14, is the talented Eric Millegan, who has starred for three seasons as a genius forensic anthropoligist in the Fox detective series Bones. He boasts extensive theatre credits, including Harold & Maude: The Musical, Jesus Christ Superstar, and The Pirates of Penzance. His concert appearances have included Washington D.C.'s Signature Theatre and New York's Dont Tell Mama.
Concluding the kickoff month is the dashing and multitalented Geoffrey Going, star of stage and television, who recently performed with Broadway legend Barbara Cook in Santa Monica. Among his musical stage credits are Jekyll and Hyde, West Side Story, and Stephen Schwartz' 2008 Festival for New American Musicals.His uncle is famed songwriter and Capitol Records founder Buddy DeSylva. In his presentation, Going will sing some of DeSylva's most beloved hits, including "California Here I Come," "April Showers," and "Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries."
