Tina Fey Is AP Entertainer of the Year
Tina Fey, the newest darling of all things television, just edged out Robert Downey, Jr. for AP's Entertainer of the Year honors! Chosen by newspaper editors and broadcast producers, the funny lady and multiple award winner was selected "as the performer who had the greatest impact on culture and entertainment in 2008." Can we say Sarah Palin?
The article quotes from Sharon Eberson, entertainment editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: “Tina Fey is such an obvious choice. She gave us funny when we really needed it and, in a year when women in politics were making huge strides, Fey stood out in the world of entertainment.” Amen!
Not that runner-up Robert didn't impress us all in his two comebacks movies, Iron Man and Tropic Thunder. And the person with the next largest number of votes was the late, great Heath Ledger, who certainly deserves that much anticipated Oscar nod -- if not the outright win -- for his fearless and creepy Joker in The Dark Knight. Pretty cool that all three top entertainers this year were actors!
