Last-Second Oscar Predictions

Oscar  Unless you've been living under a rock, you know the Academy Awards on this Sunday. And you also know that nothing is a lock. But if you're filling out your Oscar ballots, you might want to hop over to Gold Derby's Buzzmeter to see who they've predicted to win. Personally? I think we're due for at least one big upset. And I'm guessing it will be in the Lead Actress category. Pundits seem to feel this is a two-woman race, between Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet. As big of a fan as I am of both of them, I don't think this is either of their best work. So what does that leave? Well, as much as I'd love to see Melissa Leo pull an upset, I think the actor to keep an eye on is Anne Hathaway. Even people who didn't like Rachel Getting Married were moved by her raw, real performance as a recovering addict. As for the rest, expect business as usual. Which means Slumdog Millionaire takes Best Picture/Director, Heath Ledger wins Supporting Actor, Penelope Cruz takes Supporting Actress, and Sean Penn wins his second Oscar for Lead Actor. Bet on it.
