A Book Discussion with Susan Quinn
Susan Quinn, the author of Furious Improvisation: How the WPA and a Cast of Thousands Made High Art out of Desperate Times is part of The Play Company's event series, Idea Lab.
Quinn will use archival footage from the National Archives to tell the story of the 1930's Federal Theatre Project. Through a talk with slides and films, Quinn brings to life the challenges of this era when Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Harry Hopkins improvised programs to get millions of hungry, unemployed people back to work.
The discussion will take place Friday June 26 at 6 p.m. at The Cherry Pit. The theater is located at 155 Bank Street in NYC.
The event is free, but there is a $10 suggested donation. To make reservations call Matt Morrow at (212)398-2977 or email him at [email protected].
