'Royal Family' Welcomes New Cast Members
Additional casting has been announced for the new Broadway production of the showbiz comedy-drama The Royal Family, which follows "a famous family of stage stars as they go about the drama of the day" and deal with the problem of their youngest diva wanting to quit the stage for domestic bliss.
Joining the cast are Larry Pine as Gilbert Marshall, Freddy Arsenault as Perry Stewart, Kelli Barrett as Gwen Cavendish, Carolyn Stefanie Clay as Della, Rufus Collins as McDermott/Gunga, David Greenspan as Jo, and Henny Russell as Ms. Peake. (Pine replaces the previously announced Stephen Collins, who has withdrawn from the production for personal reasons.)
The cast already features previously announced cast members Ana Gasteyer as Kitty Dean, Tony Award winner John Glover as Herbert Dean, Tony Award winner and Oscar nominee Rosemary Harris as Fanny Cavendish, Tony Award nominee and Drama Desk Award winner Jan Maxwell as Julie Cavendish, Tony Award nominee Tony Roberts as Oscar Wolfe, and Tony Award nominee and Drama Desk Award nominee Reg Rogers as Tony Cavendish.
Four additional cast members will be announced shortly, completing the company of 17 actors.
Rehearsals begin Aug. 11 at Manhattan Theatre Club. Previews begin Sept. 15, for an Oct. 8 opening at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
