Debts Push California’s State Theater to Near Bankruptcy
The Pasadena Playhouse will close its doors in February after almost a century of operation.A struggling economy has dried up donations to the theater, and the Playhouse’s growing debt have left it with no funds to continue running, according to the Los Angeles Times.The theater is looking at almost $2 million in bills and the possibility of bankruptcy as a result.Artistic director Sheldon Epps told the Times that he hopes to develop a plan to get the company into decent financial shape.
