TV Writers Get $70M in Age Discrimination Settlement

0122 TV writers $ After ten years, the suit against seven talent agencies and seventeen networks made by TV writers, alleging multiple counts of unintentional and intentional age discrimination, reached a $70 million settlement. None of the more than 165 writers will receive a fixed amount of the money, of which two-thirds will come from insurance providers.  Rather, each will be able to apply for grants and loans from a newly created fund called Fund for the Future. Paul Sprenger, lead counsel for the defendants, recommended all class members accept the settlement.
