Doug Wright to Teach Playwriting at Yale
Tony-winning playwright Doug Wright will assume the teaching responsibilities of Paula Vogel, department chair at the Yale School of Drama, during the 2010 fall semester, according to Playbill. Vogel (“How I Learned to Drive”) is taking a leave absence to finish a play commissioned by the Yale Repertory Theatre. Kenneth Prestininzki will serve as acting department chair in her absence, while Wright, who won a Tony and Pulitzer for 2003’s “I Am My Own Wife,” will teach Yale’s weekly playwriting workshop. Wright has also received a Tony nomination for his book to the musical “Grey Gardens” and an Oscar nod for his adaptation of “Quills.”
