Equity Charges 'Tony 'N Tina' Producers

0408 equity Actors' Equity Association has filed unfair labor practice charges against the producers of the Off-Broadway show "Tony n' Tina's Wedding." The union claims that Broadway Entertainment—a limited-liability company held by Kim and Sonny Ricciardi—violated the National Labor Relations Act by attempting to negotiate employment terms directly with cast members. According to Equity, which represents the actors in the show, Broadway Entertainment contacted the union last month with a formal closing notice, then followed up a week ago with word that the show would soon reopen at a new location but without utilizing the Equity contract. After attempting to open a dialogue with producers, Equity filed charges with the National Labor Relations Board.
