End of the Road for Gen Art

0506 gerard Gen Art, the 16-year-old arts organization dedicated to supporting young talent across multiple media, has closed its doors, founders Ian and Stefan Gerard announced Wednesday. In an interview with the New York Times, Ian Gerard said, "We were losing money hand over fist,” and blamed the closure on a recession-related waning of support from corporate benefactors. In an effort to curb spending, the organization had recently cut its full-time staff from 39 to 21.
