SNL's Jason Sudeikis Has 'Horrible Bosses'
THR's Jay A. Fernandez reports that Jason Sudeikis is in final negotiations to star in Horrible Bosses, rounding out an impressive cast that already includes Jennifer Aniston and Colin Farrell. The comedy will be third film that SNL funny man Sudeikis has starred in for New Line Cinemas: he and Owen Wilson recently wrapped Hall Pass, and the romantic comedy Going the Distance opens this August.
The film is about three friends (Sudeikis, Jason Bateman, and Charlie Day) on a quest to murder their evil bosses (Aniston and Farrell). Jamie Foxx also stars as a scam artist who advises the three in their murderous deeds. The film is schedule for a July 2011 release.
This news makes me so excited for the outcome of this movie (and not just to see how much fun it would be to kill both your boss and Jennifer Aniston). This seems like it has the potential to finally catapult Sudeikis from bit parts in comedies like The Rocker into leading man status.
The actor has been one of the standout cast members on Saturday Night Live for the past six seasons, also writing some of the more memorable skits. Sudeikis has also proved that he has the acting chops, with his recurring role on 30 Rock as Floyd, one of Liz Lemon’s better boyfriends. Floyd may be thought of as "the one that got away," but hopefully this actor will find a place in Hollywood comedies for good.
