Oscars Rundown
The always wonderfully snarky Nikki Finke has posted a rundown of what to expect on the Oscar telecast Sunday night, complete with host wardrobe changes. On the good side: I love the idea of Helen Mirren and Russell Brand presenting together. On the more head-scratching side: not sure why Kathryn Bigelow needs Hilary Swank with her to present Best Director. Also, why is Reese Witherspoon presenting Best Supporting Actor? Even if last year's Supporting Actress winner Mo'Nique weren't available, why Witherspoon? (Mo'Nique was willing to get up at 5 a.m. and announce the Oscar nominations, I'm surprised she wouldn't want to come to the ceremony and present.) Also curious: the presenter of Best Supporting Actress isn't listed yet. I'm sort of disappointed we won't get to hear Christoph Waltz lovably bumble his way through a presentation.
