Reports: Taymor Gone From ‘Spider-Man’

Taymor Julie Taymor departed Broadway’s "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" last night, according to the New York Daily News and NY1. Rick Miramontez, a spokesman for the musical, declined to verify the reports when contacted by the New York Times. The Times reported that the show will shut down for three weeks at an undetermined date as changes are implemented, and that directors Chrstopher Ashley (“Memphis”) and Philip William McKinley (“The Boy From Oz”) are being considered to join a revamped creative team. Lead producers Michael Cohl and Jeremiah Harris reportedly believe that the musical needs a more objective point of view. An announcement is expected this week regarding Taymor's and the show's future.
